| The significance of this award is a great one. It
demonstrates the power of the internet and the ability to be "in
touch" with others on a global level. As you noticed above,
this award is from our Brothers in Glasgow, Scotland. The Caledonian Railway Lodge website is a must for all Texas Masons! Not only is the historical section, along with the rest of their site outstanding, the photo section will be a surprise! They have pictures of the plaques at the Alamo that commemorate Brother Masons James Bonham, James Bowie, David Crockett, Almaron Dickerson and William Barret Travis who gave their lives for the cause of freedom for Texas. There is also a picture of the plaque commemorating the founding of the Alamo Lodge. Any Lodge that boosts photographs commemorating Texas Masons in those early days certainly has my respect, in addition to the respect given a Brother Mason. Although long removed from Scotland, my family and other Americans of Scottish descent are proud of their lineage.
